Burning red as desert soil, as prickly as a thousand cacti, your exterior terrified all comers. Sneering at the wind and cursing at the sun, your demeanour made the warmest cool.
There was never a point peeling back your shell, never a point seeking a different version of you. All that ever existed here was scorched Earth. Yet, you never singed me.
