To help fundraise for the War Toys® nonprofit organization, photographer Brian McCarty is offering an image of his that ISIS stole and turned into an online propaganda piece. The original photo "Gaza Cinderella" (left) was shot in 2012, using locally sourced toys in the Gaza Strip. It was inspired by an art-based interview with 10-year-old "Amara," showing her intense fear of missile strikes.

This piece is a meditation on the nature of consciousness, and its relation to the problem of free will in a universe that seems reducible to physical laws.

I speculated on another plane of existence where consciousness resides, a pervading field like the electromagnetic spectrum. Infinite beings of consciousness that occasionally took the plunge into the physical universe.
