Let me show you an other #Toomal from my first NFT colleciton ever published.
This one is a South African Giraffe. Thankfully this subspecies is not listed on the IUCN red list of endangered species. Sadly some others like the Kordofan giraffe or the Nubian giraffe indeed are classified critically endangered.
Here are some interessting facts about giraffes you maybe did not know yet
- Giraffes are the tallest mammals on Earth
- They can run as fast as 35 miles an hour
- A giraffe’s neck is too short to reach the ground
- Giraffes only need to drink once every few days
- No two individual giraffes have exactly the same pattern
- Giraffes only need 5 to 30 minutes of sleep in a 24-hour period
- They even sleep and give birth standing up
- Their tonge is up to 45cm long
The scientific name of Giraffes is ‘Giraffe Camelopardalis’, which means one who walks quickly, a camel marked like a leopard.
Let me throw my all-time favourite giraffe joke at you:
Some Giraffes can grow up to 18 feet.
But most only have 4!
I know you are all waiting for the giraffe limerick, so take this!
There was once a Giraffe who said, “What
Do I want with my tea strong or hot?
For my throat’s such a length,
The tea loses its strength,
And is cold ere it reaches the spot.”
